Mushrooms
The mushrooms or Sopp in Norwegian are found widely in the wilds as well as the parks or greenbelts in the cities. Their kind is more towards the animal, than the plants and they are one of the most interesting examples of symbiosis in the nature. In Norway, they are called Sopp and there is close relationship between nature-explorers, hikers and the mushrooms.

There is one type of mushroom in Norway that glows in dark in the forest, known as honningsopp. The enzyme luciferas is responsible for this glowing effect, however, the ecological reason for this is still unknown. This ability in an organism to glow is known as bioluminiscence. While many species can glow very brightly, the honningsopp glows partially in some of its threads under the ground.
